Salina Cheer
Football season also means it’s cheer season and at Salina High School, the cheer squad has put in the time and given the effort to create another great year on the field and on the mat.
Head coach Mackenzie Greene continues to build a program that competes at a high level. This season the team is experiencing a youth movement which has the team adjusting routines they will use during competition season.
“This team is a bigger team than Salina has had previously with more rookies than we had last season,” said coach Greene.
The team continues to maintain their standards of community involvement while preparing for game day and competition. Coach Greene keeps their focus on the task at hand.
“We anticipate being a part of all community events, as well as showing off our own skills on game days, as well as our Regional Competition,” said coach Greene.
The schedule is packed this season as the cheer team will participate in every football, and basketball game and every wrestling match on top of their community events schedule and their competition schedule to include NCA camp.
“We attended NCA camp for the first time ever, and we have spent all summer prepping for it. It is a very hard- working and dedicated group of athletes,” said coach Greene.
Individuals like Katelyn Bark and Mariah Hess are helping lead this group while younger cheerleaders like Addison Martin are entering the program for the first time. Also look for Sadie Brickey who brings her positive outlook to the team and is uplifting for everyone.
