Sequoyah Claremore’s Lexi Dunfee

A rising junior at Sequoyah High School, Lexi Dunfee is entering her sixth year as a dedicated volleyball player and it’s clear that both her heart and hustle are deeply rooted in the game. From middle blocker to student leader, Lexi has made a name for herself through talent, tenacity, and an unmistakable sense of team spirit.

After transitioning from homeschooling to the close-knit environment of Sequoyah, Lexi quickly discovered something special: “The teachers, coaches, and community genuinely care about us. It’s not just about wins and losses it’s about growth, support, and connection,” she shares. That strong community feel has helped her thrive both on the court and in the classroom.

Her favorite gym to compete in is Oologah High School, not only for the fun atmosphere and soft serve ice cream in the concession stand, but also because it gives her a chance to reunite with former club teammates and coaches.

“It’s a little like coming home and seeing old friends plus, who doesn’t love ice cream after a win?”

Lexi’s biggest inspirations are her family. From her mom cheering in the stands to her dad working hard behind the scenes and her brother setting a strong example in sports, their support is a constant source of motivation. Academically, she shines in math, crediting Coach Holt’s humor and clear instruction as key to her success.

Outside of volleyball, Lexi is heavily involved in sideline cheer, stunt, and is stepping into a leadership role as Student Council Secretary. As a middle blocker, she loves her role but stays ready to adapt.

“I’ve always wanted to try backrow, but I’ll do whatever my coach needs. I’m here for the team.”

When it comes to teammates, Lexi is full of praise: “Hailey Budgick is always on the floor going for digs, and Alice Michaels has stepped up as our new setter. I’m so proud of how far she’s come already.” Her favorite part of the team? The care and compassion. “When I recently felt faint during practice, Bella Brown reached out just to make sure I was okay. That kind of support means everything.
