It’s an exciting time for Nowata basketball as head coach Derick Ott returns five of his seven starters from a year ago plus they added a move-in from Owasso.
“I am looking forward to this groups ability to score. I think we will be tough to guard come playoff time. This is the group I feel is more capable of making a deeper playoff run. Really looking forward to this season,” coach Ott said.
Someone the Nowata faithful will be excited to see make his return to the court is Talon Thompson (Sr.). Thompson averaged 15 points a game as a junior and is a VYPE Top 100 selectee. When he’s not playing school ball, Thompson is playing for his travel team.
“Thompson has put a ton of time and work in this off season. Looking forward to his senior year,” coach Ott said.
Also look for Kade Shaw, who joins the team from Owasso.
“He brings a ton of energy every day and is capable of scoring in multiple ways,” coach Ott said.
The 2025-26 season should be an exciting time for the Ironmen as they embark on what could be one of their best seasons since coach Ott arrived three seasons ago.
