OUTLOOK
When the Lady Bulldoggers take the court, it will be with an experienced senior heavy team that’s hungry for post season play. Head coach Michael Sanders said the team has a good mix of talent and looks to build off the success of last season.
“We are going to be senior loaded this year. Over the past two years, we have only graduated two seniors. All of this year’s seniors have played since they were freshmen. We have a lot of experience, and we will also play a few younger players this year. We had our first winning season in eight years, last year. We are excited to build off that and try to make a deeper run in the playoffs,” coach Sanders said.
VYPE Top 100 selectee Cassie Snead (5-5, Sr.) will likely start at one of the guard spots. Snead is a transfer who brings her quickness and offensive skills to the court for DHS. Snead is one of the top defenders in the class and will have an immediate impact. Forward CJ Jones (5-7, Sr.) is comfortable in the paint and athletic enough to make a difference on the board.
Matney Epperson (5-4, Sr.) is another guard who moves well with or without the ball and will make a difference on the defensive end of the floor. She will likely start at point guard. Epperson is joined by Jaelynn Smith (5-5, Sr.), another guard with good quickness and a nose for the ball. Kaci Swan (5-6, Sr.) joins Jones in the paint giving Dewey two players who can battle for boards and play a physical style of basketball in the post.
Adrianna Hicks (5-7, Fr.) is entering her first season of varsity basketball, and everyone is excited to see how well she performs. Hicks has a nice jumper, runs the floor well and can use either hand driving to the rim. Also look for Chanley Herren (5-4, Sr.) at guard, and Landry Herren (5-4, Fr.) at guard.
