Coach: JUSTYN SHAW

2024-25 Record: 13-12

OUTLOOK

In his fifth season at Bartlesville High School, coach Justyn Shaw is seeing the fruits of their labor come to life. Coach Shaw took over a program that was struggling to win games, but this season they have something to build on and continue growing the program.

“We finished 13-12 in 2024-25 for our first winning season in seven years,” Shaw said. “Looking to improve on last season’s record after being edged out of the Regional Playoffs by Westmoore. The Bruins return a senior-laden backcourt, one solid junior and three strong sophomores.”

Sami Sheaffer (6-1, Sr.) is the returning scorer and combo guard the team will lean on for big plays. Last season Sheaffer averaged 14.2 points with 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Her play is key to the overall success of the team. Also look for Emma Zimmerman (5-8, Sr.) and Kenzie Denny (5-10, Sr.) who are also combo guards. Zimmerman accounted for 6.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game while Denny went for 6.4 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals a game. The trio is tough to stop. Add Cadence Gray (5-7, Sr.) at forward and you have the makings of a tough team with a lot of experience and determination.

Shaylyn Ishem (6-0, So.) logged some playing time last season as a freshman. Ishem averaged 2.7 points and 3.5 rebounds a game. Her continued development will only serve to help the Lady Bruins as they look to someone like Ishem to be a force in the paint.

Another sophomore to watch is Addison Jones (5-5, So.). A guard who can play multiple positions, Jones continues to show why she is battling for more time on the floor.

“A varsity letterman as a freshman for the Bruins last season, Addison will be an impact to the success of the Lady Bruins’ backcourt. A quick combo guard who can push the pace and shoots with accuracy from three-point range,” Shaw said.

Coach Shaw is looking for Jones to have a breakout Sophomore campaign.
