Kansas’ Zack Adams
Entering his junior season, Kansas High School baseball player Zack Adams is the starting catcher and a player everyone should watch this season. Known for being one of the hardest working players on the team, Adams controls the game and will hit in the middle of the lineup according to head coach Austin Graham. Adams said he is ready for the start of the season.
“This upcoming season I’m expecting the young guys to mature and step up and take this team far and even shoot our shot for state,” Adams said. “We have some guys that have only been playing for a year or two who are all in and have improved greatly. They may not be our best players, but they definitely contribute to the team.”
Adams is one of the top catchers in the class and has continued working to improve his offense.
“ ”“My strength is my quickness and how fast my transition and pop time is. I’ve improved in the weight room, getting numbers up to bring it to the field to do some damage,” said Adams.
Adams said KHS has some of the best baseball coaches in the state and they know how to get the team prepared for competition. Adams said he sticks to his own routine on gameday.
“I’ll get up, eat a good breakfast, stay hydrated, and stay locked in that day and only be thinking about the game. I like to listen to some music pregame before going on to the field for sure,” said Adams.
His father has been a big influence in his life, on and off the field. “My dad has pushed me just about every day to be a better baseball player,” Adams said. “I want to leave a legacy different than any other one. I want our younger players to see the impact we made on the school and strive to be better than us older guys.”
